What was the project about?

 

The JDC (Jewish Distribution Committee) Archives, part of a leading Jewish relief organization, house records of its activity in over 90 countries dating from 1914 to the present, and includes over 3 miles of text documents, 100,000 photographs, and 1,100 audio recordings including oral histories.

What was my role?

 

 I processed about 300 artifacts and ephemera from the JDC collection, including multi-lingual posters, maps, newspaper clippings, watercolors, and certificates. I researched background information on every item, and added metadata to the IDEA database tool. One of the highlights of this projects was a small collection of about 15 Polish theatre posters created for the Polish State Yiddish Theatre in Warsaw, in the 1970s-early 1990s.
