Park Avenue Synagogue freeze

Date: 2017

What is the project about?

This project at Park Avenue Synagogue (PAS) in NYC has been developed by Amy Reichert, an architect and Judaica designer from Chicago, and has entailed creating of a running frieze along the walls of various hallways of PAS Center for Lifelong Learning. The freeze will be made up of reproductions of historic works of art illustrating Biblical stories. They will be used as a teaching aid for classes in the building, which range from pre-school to adult.

What was my role?

I sourced more than 200 images for the Hallway Frieze at the Center for Lifelong Learning; provided replacements if necessary. My work also included liaising with museums, galleries, and private individuals to obtain high-res images and copyright. I communicated with VAGA and ARS, and negotiated discounted fee at Art Resource, the world’s largest fine art stock photo archives. Also, I maintained and regularly updated a shared master-file with all information pertaining to the project.
